Here is another victorian style pendent. It is made with square 22g SS wire, 28 g round SS wire, 22g half round SS wire, carnelian briolet and faceted carnelian rondels. It is roughly based on an old pendent that I have. I see that it is a little wonky. I gave it to a friend for Christmas but forgot to take a photo. She gave it back so I could get a pic. I will have to straighten it up before I return it. I don't know if it was off this much whan I gave it to her, whether wearing it made it go "offsides" or the photo just magnifies the problems. Any way, I was happy with this effort.

Beadwork by Karen Davis, BeadCamel

Bead knitted green bag.

Woven bag created on the tubaloo.

Peyote stitch portrait of my beloved Goldie cat.

Biva Chain
Biva was a young woman from Nepal. She was here with her husband who was studying at the University of Idaho. When he finished his degree and they were preparing to move, she gave me some beadwork and beads. Some time later, I actually looked at the beadwork and found this lovely chain. I picked a bit of it apart to see how it was done. I sent a portion to Alice Scherer to see if she recognized it. She said she had never seen it and wanted to know what I was going to call it. I called it the Biva Chain. Some time later, I discovered that Raven had it on her website and had called it the Nepal chain.

The chain reminds me of a head of wheat. An anthropologist suggested that it may be something used to pay tribute to the goddess.

Biva Chain necklace.

To the right is the Biva chain made from
garnets and sterling hot dogs.

This is another portrain piece. The porcelain portrait was painted by a friend of my mother-in-law from photos taken by my father-in-law. It is set in a beaded peyote stitch bezel and embellished with Biva chain and hung from a Biva chain necklace.
Modified Biva Chain
I submitted an article to Bead and Button describing the Biva chain and showing how to accomplish it. I was told it was too thready so I came up with this modification which puts the small fresh water pearls on the portion of thread which was too visible.

More victorian style work. Pendant with peridot colored faceted rondels.

Fancy prong set pendant based on the tutorial by Bobbi Maw, MyWiredImagination. The stone is petrified wood. I goofed the bail the first time, so I made a woven wire bail.

Back of prong set pendant with purple stone showing the bail. This was my second, more successful attempt.Posted by Picasa

Week Two: Stone Age Caged Dragon Skin Turquoise
Pendant, dragonskin turquoise wire wrapped with sterling wire.

Stone Age means simplicity for me. The nugget of turqouise is simply wrapped with ss wire.

Week One: Gone with the Wind Amethyst Pendant
Hammered 21 guage square sterling wire, 28 g ss round wire, ss beads, faceted beads and faceted drop.

This was a blast to make.

Copper wire, beaded sterling wire and smokey quartz based on a tutorial by Bobbi Maw, MyWiredImagination at Etsy

The basket for the stone was a little confusing, but with a little tweaking, it worked. I managed to stretch the ring too much and in order to stabilize it, I wrapped all around the ring, with wraps between each bead on the wire.
